Heritage of the South: 7 Days 6 Nights |
This 7 Days trip is combined tour taking in historical, cultural and sightseeing points-of-interest along the route from Bangkok to the southern destination at Phuket. The tour will cover beautiful and fascinating temples in Bangkok is your chance to visit the incredible "Grand Palace". Then take an unforgettable journey on the "Death Railway" trip to Kanchanaburi, visit the historical site of the Bridge over the River Kwai and JEATH war museum. After that proceed to the colorful Floating Market of Damnern Saduak and then continue to the south resort areas, enjoying with white powdery beaches and many activities in Hua Hin, Chumporn and Phuket.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Bangkok
We pick you up at your hotel in Bangkok and start with a long tail boat trip on the mighty Kings River, "Chao Phraya River" to explore Bangkok by boat along the many klongs (canals). This is the most exciting way to experience life in Bangkok and to see why Bangkok is called the "Venice of the East". Then we visit the stunning Temple of Dawn, "Wat Arun". Around 12:00 pm a delicious lunch will be served at the river.

Day 2: Bangkok
After breakfast at the hotel we visit the largest flower and vegetable market of Thailand. This market is well known as "Pak Klong Talaad", center of those, who sell flowers, fruits and vegetables. Farmers bring their farm products to this market daily. Hereafter we continue to China town, a center for trading by the Chinese since they were moved from China some 300 years ago. We stroll through the small soi's and visit the Indo-Chinese food market.
After lunch we visit the most beautiful temple of Thailand, The Grand Palace, which is a must for every visitor. In this palace complex we visit the Emerald Buddha, the most revered Buddha image of Thailand and other areas as The Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall and The Funeral Palace. Our last visit is at Wat Po, Bangkok's oldest and largest temple with the revered Buddha of 46 meters long.

Day 3: Bangkok - River Kwai
In the morning we depart to Bangkok Noi train station for an open train ride over Thailand - Burmese railway, the "Death Railway" to Kanchanaburi. We will sit among the local people. During the trip you get served all the time. In these trains it is allowed to sell products like fried chicken on a stick, soft drinks and souvenirs. An unforgettable experience!
Around 11:00 am we arrive at the famous Bridge over the river Kwai, where we take a walk and taste the atmosphere of the Kwai River. After lunch we continue to visit JEATH war museum, to view a realistic replica of a prisoner of war's living quarter containing sketches, and photographs describing life in the camps. Then we go to the war cemetery, the final resting place for over 6.000 allied prisoners of war.

Day 4: River Kwai - Floating Market - Hua Hin
In the early morning we will depart to Damnern Saduak. Our first stop is at a local coconut sugar farm, where we can see the processing of natural coconut sugar. By long tail boat we continue along greenery canals, where you visit the colorful Floating market, where woman vendors still can been seen paddling their boats loaded with all kinds of fruit and vegetables.
Then we proceed to Petchaburi and visit the Khao Luang cave with its highly revered Buddha images that are lined up at the foot of the rock wall. Then we climb uphill to see King Mongkut's Summer Palace (closed on Monday/Tuesdays and public holidays), Wat Maha That and the monkey temple. Hereafter we continue to Hua Hin, the sunrise-side coastal town at the Gulf of Thailand.

Day 5: Hua Hin – Chumpon
In the morning some time for leisure and then continue to Prachuap Kiri Khan and visit Khao Chong Krajok, located at an idyllic bay and flanked by mountaintops. We will climb up 386 steps to a small pagoda located on the top of the hill and enjoy the beautiful panorama of this quiet fishing town. Hereafter we proceed to Chumpon. In the evening you can join an organized optional tour arranged by the resort on squid fishing.

Day 6: Chumpon
It is a waste to leave this resort after 1 night, so we will spend one night longer. All day free at leisure.

Day 7: Chumpon - Phang Nga - Phuket
Depart to Phang Nga bay, well known from the James Bond Island. By long tail boat we will go through one of the most stunning parts of Thailand, Phang Nga Bay. Hundreds of odd-shaped limestone formations rise from the water, often covered with tropical vegetations; some of them are just tiny rocks, others larger islands. Lunch will be held at a local seafood restaurant in the Muslim village of Koh Panyi, which is built on stills out in the open sea. After lunch we continue forwards to Phuket hotel or airport.
