Bangkok Impressions: 3 Days 2 Nights |
Over the last few decades, Thailand's capital city, Bangkok, has changed into a modern, exciting and sophisticated city. It offers to visitors not only the cosmopolitan amenities they would expect from other big cities, but also a unique treasure trove of cultural attractions. Bangkok has a feast of attractions to offer. The city is dotted with 400 glittering Buddhist temples of great beauty and fascination, magnificent palaces, numerous shopping centers and traditional ways of life, especially along the "Venice of the East" timeless canals and the Chao Phraya River of the "River of Kings" winding through the city. It is worth taking a trip along its waters before exploring further into different canals to take a glimpse of old Bangkok.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Bangkok
We pick you up at your hotel in Bangkok and we depart to the pier for a long tail boat trip on the mighty Kings River, "Chao Phraya River" to explore Bangkok by boat over the Chao Phraya River and along the many klongs (canals). This is the most exciting way of experiencing life in Bangkok and to see, why Bangkok is called the "Venice of the East". We will stop at the stunning Temple of Dawn, "Wat Arun". At 12.00 pm we join a delicious lunch at the river. Then we return to the hotel.

Day 2: Bangkok
In the morning we start with a wonderful bicycle tour. Biking in a metropolis with million cars! No problem! It is possible! We will actually hardly see any cars. An absolute unique experience! See Bangkok by bicycle, how it used to be 30 years ago. Cycle along the klongs (canals), through small living communities, along fruit plantations, local schools, markets and temples. Make contact with the local people and notice that suddenly you become the attraction. After the tour we visit Bangkok's China Town with many small streets and alleys full of shops selling all kinds of products. We stroll around the local Chinese market, where all sorts of local and exotic goods are offered. To end our day we visit a Chinese temple, The Golden Dragon Temple. Then we return to our hotel.

Day 3: Bangkok
In the morning we visit the largest fruit and vegetable market of Thailand, "Pak Klong Talat". Then we continue to visit the highlight of Bangkok, "The Grand Palace", which is a must for every visitor. In its compounds we visit the most holy Buddha image, "The Emerald Buddha" and other residences as Royal guesthouse, the funeral place and the throne hall. After lunch we visit The Vimanmek Palace, which was built in 1900 by the Royal command of King Rama V. This Mansion was his summer Palace. The Mansion has not been used as a Royal Residence but only as a storage place for the Royal household for the past 50 years. Now the mansion is a museum. Vimanmek Palace is the world's largest golden teakwood Mansion. After this visit we take a transfer to the airport, train station or hotel in Bangkok.
